The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch

We read the story 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' by Ronda and David Armitage. We really enjoyed it. It had lots of new words that we hadn't read before. Here is a video showing our favourite parts of the story.

In Geography, we learned about the job of a lighthouse keeper and what it is like to live in an area beside the sea. We looked at pictures of lighthouses in Ireland.

In Art, we painted our own lighthouses.

As part of our theme, we are singing the song 'The Big Ship Sails on the Ally Ally Oh'.

Florence Nightingale

We are learning about the famous nurse Florence Nightingale this week.

Today we played these games whilst also learning some interesting facts about Florence.

Florence was known as the 'Lady with the Lamp' because she carried a lamp at night to check on the sick soldiers. In Art, we designed and coloured our own lamps.

First Class wrote 10 facts about Florence.
