Sports Day
Sports Day is always one of our favourite days of the year. Senior Infants and 1st Class took part in a running race, potato and spoon race and a sack race. We enjoyed cheering on all our school mates in their races also.
Green Schools Celebration
We were very happy to receive our Green Flag for all our work on Biodiversity. At our flag raising ceremony, we dressed as lovely ladybirds, delightful dragonflies, buzzing bees and big bears to put on a display of music and drama.
We are proud to see the Green Flag flying outside our school.

School Tour - Eagle's Flying and Funny Bones
Senior Infants, First Class and Second Class's first stop today was ‘Eagle’s Flying’ in Ballymote, where we met some amazing birds and other animals. The peacock was the first to grab our attention…he was up on the roof and making a very loud noise to welcome us. We were amazed to see it and its beautiful feathers.
We all grabbed a seat excitedly for the Eagles Flying Show.
Our tour guide talked to us about the birds on the farm and told us some
interesting facts. He introduced the birds one by one – species of falcons,
owls and eagles. We learned that the owls are native to Ireland. He had food –
chicks – ready to keep them happy. We were very impressed to see the birds
gliding in the sky and swooping to grab the food. Some of us were very brave,
volunteering to hold the birds; others were a little nervous!!! We all enjoyed
getting to see the birds up close and to pet them.
Next stop was ‘Funny Bones’ where we had great FUN. There
were slides, ball ponds, trampolines, shooting games, a football area, go karts
etc to keep us entertained. We definitely got plenty of exercise running,
climbing, jumping and playing.
It was great to spend a fun day out with our schoolmates…we
had a super day!!!
Summer Walk
This week, we are talking about Summer. We went on a nature walk to find some signs of summer. Some signs we found were long grass, flowers, butterflies, bees, summer clothes and sunshine.

Dear Pet Shop
First Class read the story 'Dear Zoo' by Rod Campbell. We enjoyed predicting what animals arrived from the zoo.
We adapted the story to writing to a pet shop for a pet. We used lots of different adjectives to describe unsuitable pets. We combined all our ideas to make a story book.
Here it is...Dear Pet Shop by First Class.
